Water Supply – Hackney Road and North East Road Trunk Water Main Upgrade (D&C)
The Hackney Road project section involved 2.2km of pipe relining, underboring, and complete replacement of various sections of pipeline. The pipe alignment ran through the East Parklands and crossed cultural and state heritage sites, requiring extensive stakeholder management and employing hydro-excavation methodologies to ensure significant tree protection during construction.
The North East Road project section involved over 20 cross connections from a redundant water main to a new main extending 11km from Hope Valley Reservoir to the Gilberton Pump Station along another major arterial road. As a result of the existing network design, some connections were done as a live tap, where a new connection was made onto a live and operating water main.
Additional packages were also added to the project included sewer pipe laying installation works, excavation and contaminated soil disposal, manhole installation, tie in points and grout filling works of redundant sections of sewer main and manholes.
