CAT Trucks To Macraes Goldmine

Heavy Haulage

Client: Global Transport

Completion date: May 2016

Capability: Heavy Haulage

Fulton Hogan’s capable team of heavy haulage professionals and diverse fleet of specialised equipment successfully assisted in transporting 5 new CAT dumptrucks worth over NZD$20M from Port Timaru to Macraes Goldmine in Otago, New Zealand.

In addition to developing a comprehensive transport management plan outlining requirements for the project, Fulton Hogan also provided transport, load pilots and project supervision.

Fulton Hogan mobilised 2 of their heavy haulage transporters and 5 load pilots from Dunedin and Christchurch to Timaru. The trucks arrived in New Zealand from Chile with their decks detached for shipping.  We received the decks, weighing 39 tonne each with dimensions of 7.2m wide and a travelling height of 5.4m, directly from the ships’ heavy lift crane. Fulton Hogan also transported the 71 tonne chassis, which were 6.4m wide and had a travelling height of 5.3m.

The job was completed with an excellent safety record, on-time and on-budget.
