Widening of Portobello Road
Fulton Hogan is working on widening and raising the road between Broad Bay and Portobello as part of the Peninsula Connection project.
In some places the road will be widened by as much as six metres to make it safer for all road users. It will allow for a lane change configuration and a shared walkway/cycleway. The current road is narrow and winding, with little room for cyclists or pedestrians.
As part of the Peninsula Connection project a new rock seawall will be built and seating, planting and rest areas created.
