Prime Port Timaru Wharf
The Prime Port Timaru Wharf is approximately 330m long, and used as a multi-purpose bulk cargo, fishing and cruise vessel wharf. Prime Port has completed the upgrade of 217m of the replacement of decayed timber piles and beams, the construction of a new concrete deck, and the installation of greater capacity bollards and fandering system.
The completion of this work enabled the return of cruise vessels to Prime Port for the 2019/2020 cruise vessel season.
A specialist wharf maintenance and repair team from Christchurch self-performed the substructure repair works, with support from the region for demolition and local subcontractor Thompson Engineering for in-situ deck construction.
