Sandfire Resources exports its high value copper concentrate by hauling it in containers from their DeGrussa mine site to their export terminal at Port Hedland then loads it into ships.
Fulton Hogan constructed the 1-hectare export terminal at Berth P026 in Port Hedland. Scope included earthworks, drainage, base works, and the use of an innovative proprietary product called RigiPhalt ®
RigiPhalt ® is a heavy-duty composite pavement system comprising of an open grade asphalt where the voids are filled with a cementitious grout. This results in a pavement, which is highly resistant to container corner castings, rutting and mechanical fluids, all at a competitive price.
