Wellington road maintenance, asphalt supply, laying & traffic management

Fulton Hogan creates, connects and cares for communities; building the roads, ports, airports, infrastructure and property which brings people together. We build communities literally from the ground up, starting with our own network of quarries, complemented by our asphalt, emulsion and pre-cast plants.

Regular road maintenance keeps Wellington connected

New Zealand’s capital, Wellington, is also its second largest population centre. Nestled below a ridge of hills around a large natural harbour at the south-western tip of the country’s North Island, the city is regularly buffeted by storms that give its latitude the moniker the “Roaring Forties”. These climactic conditions mean the city’s road network needs regular maintenance – resurfacing, minor repairs and drainage works are common. Fulton Hogan offer such a comprehensive and professionally managed range of these services that they have been appointed by the New Zealand Transport Agency to provide road maintenance services across over two thirds of the entire country.

Intelligent asphalt supply and laying techniques

As the cultural and administrative centre of New Zealand, with the highest percentage of tertiary qualifications in the country, the people of Wellington expect their providers of asphalt supply and laying services to operate with the best interests of the environment in mind. Fulton Hogan’s asphalt supply is based on a production process carried out at low temperatures and producing low emissions. Our asphalt, bitumen and specialised surfaces are developed so that they can also be applied in an environmentally friendly way, enabling our asphalt laying teams to serve the community in both the short and long terms.

Traffic management that keeps Wellington moving

With almost as many people working in its CBD as Auckland, its larger cousin to the north, traffic management is key to keeping Wellington moving. Aligned with our expertise in road surfacing, sealing and asphalt, Fulton Hogan offer a comprehensive programme for entire road networks. The city is home to the largest roundabout in the world – the centre of which is its international cricket ground, the Basin Reserve – and to rugby powerhouse the Hurricanes: we arrange management of traffic around major sporting events, as well as construction works and high density transport areas.
