The Tasman Highway is a vital piece of infrastructure in Tasmania connecting the major cities of Hobart and Launceston via the north-eastern and the east coast of Tasmania.

The Sideling Road Upgrade – Stage 1 Project involved upgrading approximately 4.5 kilometres of the Tasman Highway from Whish-Wilson Road to Corkery’s Road, west of the Sideling Lookout.

Key works included:

• 100,000m3 of bulk excavation
• Retaining walls
• Drainage crossings
• 40,000m2 of sealing
• 3000t of asphalt.

These upgrades have improved safety by widening the road, sealing the road shoulders, and providing passing opportunities for motorists.
