Foxground & Berry Bypass
This project on the south coast of New South Wales was a significant transport infrastructure investment for the region. It set a benchmark for the collaborative delivery of design and construct road projects in NSW and has attracted high praise from our client.
It provides a four-lane highway with median separation for 12.5 kilometres of the Princes Highway between Toolijooa Road and just south of Andersons Lane.
Key features included:
- 6.6 kilometres of new highway, including bypasses of the Foxground bends and the Berry township
- A cutting about 25 metres deep at Toolijooa Ridge, bypassing the Foxground bends
- Six lanes through the cutting at Toolijooa Ridge for a distance of 1.5 kilometres, providing two lanes and a climbing lane in each direction
- Three bridge crossings and a new roundabout.
In late 2016 the project won the IECA (International Erosion Control Association) award for Category 1 – Excellence in Erosion and Sediment Control. The judges praised the `beyond compliance’ culture that had been established among the team.
Community consultation remained a priority for the project’s duration. The team also maintained an exceptional safety record, working over 19 million
man hours to deliver the project in August 2017 well ahead of schedule.
