Petone to Melling Cycleway
The Petone to Melling Cycleway is being constructed as part of the wider Te Ara Tupua Cyleway between Wellington and the Hutt Valley heading North out of of Wellington. It will deliver a safe and efficient route between Wellington and the Hutt Valley for cyclists and pedestrians with connections to the regions existing walking and cycling routes.
Key elements of the Petone to Melling section include:
- rail underpasses at Petone and Parliament Street (near the Normandale overbridge)
- a well-marked route through the Petone railway station car park
- a cycle bypass for southbound cyclists at the Dowse interchange
- a connection to the existing Hutt River Trail.
