Fulton Hogan is constructing three new double lane bridges – two in Matakohe and one in Taipa- as part of the Government’s Northland Bridges programme.

The new bridges are replacing existing single lane bridges.

Work on the Matakohe Bridges, between Wellsford and Dargaville, also involves realignment of State Highway 12 to remove the right bends approaching the bridges. A new intersection will be built and cycling connections provided.

The new Taipa Bridge is 107 metres long and has a 2.5 metre wide separated shared pedestrian and cycling path.

All three new bridges are aimed at improving travellers’ safety, journey time and experience.
