Fitzgerald Road, Ardeer and Robinsons Road, Deer Park – Level Crossing Removal

Works have commenced to remove the dangerous and congested level crossings at Fitzgerald Road in Ardeer and Robinsons Road in Deer Park.

These works will be delivered by Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance (MRPA), made up of Alliance partners Fulton Hogan, V/Line, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP).

The Robinsons Road level crossing will be removed through a road under rail solution. This design was chosen as it allows for future improvements to the transport network and will have a significantly shorter construction timeframe than other designs.

The Fitzgerald Road level crossing will be removed with a road over rail solution. The road overpass design will prevent impacts to the Western Ring Road, be up to 12 months faster to build than other options and significantly reduce disruptions to road and rail passengers.
