Eastern Access Road (Hawthorne Drive)

Drivers travelling between Frankton and the Shotover River in New Zealand’s Queenstown now have an alternative route to travel after Fulton Hogan’s work on the Eastern Access Road.

The new section of road allows drivers to avoid taking the existing junction of State Highway 6 and Stateway Highway 6A, historically known as a heavily congested intersection for traffic travelling both to and from Queenstown.

The work was carried out in two stages with the initial connection between Glenda Drive and Remarkables Park opened to motorists before winter 2017.

Landscaping and street lighting was also installed, along with entrances to any future internal roads leading to Remarkables Park.
