Fulton Hogan Powers Up With Solar

Fulton Hogan has rolled-out solar panel energy system across eight locations around Australia.

Collectively, the installation across the eight sites includes the installation of 2,365 individual solar panels with an output of 905 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity a year, equivalent to roughly 130 Australian households.

This clean energy innovation was sparked through employee innovation forums and aligns with Fulton Hogan’s long-standing efforts to minimise our impact on the environment and community.

The locations with solar panel energy systems installed are:

  • Dandenong, Victoria
  • Minto, New South Wales
  • McGraths Hill, New South Wales
  • Ormeau, Queensland
  • Stonemaster Quarry, Queensland
  • Roseneath, Queensland
  • Darwin, Northern Territory
  • Hazelmere, Western Australia

The final stage of the initiative is to install screens in each Fulton Hogan office displaying the amount of power the solar panels are putting back into our operations.

“We’re piloting an Australian first with this project,” says Rory Bracken, National Environmental Assurance Manager.  “We’re first to trial real-time CCTV to monitor the performance of the panels on a commercial scale to tell us when they need to be repaired or cleaned, which saves water.”

“This new approach goes a long way to save unnecessary maintenance.”

“It’s an exciting step, which could be utilised for similar clean energy assets.”

Congratulations to all who invested effort into this new way to improve our environmental responsibility and further strengthen our sustainability efforts.
