Embracing new technology to drive down emissions

Fulton Hogan is investing in Toyota’s updated HiLux range with 48-volt technology. This move is part of our broader strategy to embrace new technologies that enable us to meet the infrastructure needs of communities, whilst continuing to take steps to reduce emissions.

“We are incorporating hybrid and EV technology into our light and heavy fleet wherever possible as another step on our decarbonisation journey.  When it comes to light vehicles the bulk are light utilities, of which we have over 1500 across Australia. They are a key frontline tool that must be able to dependably perform the job required of them in all conditions, as safely and as efficiently as possible, so taking on the new technology is of real interest,” says Graeme Johnson, CEO Fulton Hogan, Australia.

The switch to the updated Toyota HiLux range with new fuel-saving powertrain technology is a testament to this approach. This technology includes a motor generator, 48-volt battery, and DC/DC converter, which collectively contribute to a fuel economy improvement of up to approximately 10 percent compared to the standard 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine.
