We’re proud to have amongst us the inaugural winner of IPWEA’s Emerging Governance Scholarship. Fulton Hogan’s National Manager, Establishment and Performance, Kelly Churchill, won the scholarship and $10K training with the Institute of Directors at IPWEA’s annual conference and awards in Christchurch. As someone who’s equally adept at governance outside of work, it was a special touch that Kelly’s daughters Poppy and Lexi could join her on stage at the Christchurch Events Centre.

Kelly has been working with our road maintenance contract boards since she started with Fulton Hogan as the Contract Manager of the Central Otago NOC seven years ago, and in a national capacity in the last four years.

Fulton Hogan’s General Manager Engineering Solutions Bevan Sandison says Kelly’s success shows the right attitude, practical skills and collaborative mind-set can propel people into governance roles.

“Kelly’s drive for continuous improvement within and outside of her role has seen our contracts go from strength to strength, and consistently achieve ‘Outstanding’ results.”

Bevan says Kelly is playing a growing role in supporting the governance boards of each NOC, and is now a formal board alternate on NOC contracts and for Fulton Hogan’s CEO on the new Wellington Transport Alliance.
