Fulton Hogan Welcomes Waikato Quarries Employees

Employees from Waikato Quarries Ltd’s (WQL) Waingaro and Tauhei operations were officially welcomed to the Fulton Hogan ‘family’ at an induction on Saturday, at Fulton Hogan’s Waikato regional office.

A number of Fulton Hogan’s senior leaders were in attendance for the occasion, which included welcoming the 27 former WQL staff who have joined Fulton Hogan to continue operating the newly acquired quarries.

Completed late on Friday, the purchase of the quarries and their operating assets forms part of Fulton Hogan’s resource strategy, ensuring the company has sufficient access to quality aggregates, to meet the increasing needs of our Waikato-based customers, well in to the future.

“Fulton Hogan takes a long-term view on investment in our people, and in serving our customers,” said Fulton Hogan’s Waikato Regional Manager, Kerry Watkins.

“Our decision to invest in the quarries reflects strong forecasts for population and economic growth in the Waikato and will enable us to continue to service the region and its on-going infrastructure needs.”

“We are particularly pleased to have retained the majority of staff employed by Waikato Quarries and are already enjoying learning from their knowledge of these sites.”

Both quarries are currently in the process of being integrated into the Fulton Hogan business, a process which is expected to take several weeks, with a focus on a seamless transition for customers and continued safe operation of the quarries.
