Minister Fifield presents Ray Love with an award for helping save a child from chocking.

A Fulton Hogan team member has gone far beyond the call of duty, saving a choking child’s life in Adelaide last week.

Federal Minister for Communications, Senator Mitch Fifield, presented an award to Ray Love, who is working on the Fulton Hogan team rolling out the National Broadband Network (NBN) in South Australia.

Minister Fifield presented the award to Ray during a visit to the Bellevue Heights site this week where he inspected the NBN fibre-to-the-node (FTTN) network rollout.

“I am proud to acknowledge that Fulton Hogan’s great work extends beyond rolling out our nation’s broadband network,” Minister Fifield said.

Minister Fifield meets the Fulton Hogan team working on the NBN.

“Last week, Mr Love was buying lunch when he saw a young child outside turning blue. He raced out of the shop, found the child choking and removed the food lodged in his airway, saving the child’s life.

“This employee displayed quick thinking, initiative and remarkable calm in a stressful situation and I want to thank him personally by presenting this well deserved award.”
