Award winning team takes on new major project

26 August 2025:

We are delighted that so much valuable experience from the recently opened and award winning Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Motorway is joining the team on the Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) project. Pictured are the just-completed offices for the new project.

Fulton Hogan, in an alliance with HEB, Aurecon and WSP, has been awarded the Ō2NL contract by NZTA. The 13km four-lane project follows on the heels of the recently completed nearby Te Ahu a Turanga, winner of the Projects over $100M category at the 2025 CCNZ National Awards.

Ō2NL is part of a larger 24km project that extends the Wellington Northern Corridor. Around 30 Fulton Hogan staff are transferring directly to the new project from Te Ahu a Turanga.

“It is good to be hitting the ground with such a seasoned team, many of whom were part of Te Ahu a Turanga and with plenty of opportunities for new team members as well,” says Fulton Hogan’s Chief Operating Officer – Construction, Justin McDowell.

A feature of the project is that it will be constructed entirely of structural asphalt, which is the best option in terms of whole-of-life durability and reduced future maintenance. The asphalt will be produced on site with support, as necessary, from the Palmerston North plant.

Ō2NL is due to be completed by Christmas 2029.
