Banks Peninsula Roading Maintenance Services – Delivering Excellence in Road Maintenance Since 1999
Fulton Hogan has proudly maintained the Banks Peninsula road network for over 25 years, partnering with Christchurch City Council to deliver safe, resilient, and responsive infrastructure across one of New Zealand’s most geographically diverse regions.
Our 5th term of the contract commenced 1 July 2025, covering 371km of sealed and 330km of unsealed roads, with an annual programme valued at approx. $10 million, additional storm recovery and structural works. From steep urban streets to rugged hill country and coastal flats, our local teams based in Duvauchelles, Allandale, and Little River bring deep knowledge of the terrain and community needs.
Scope of Services:
- Routine and cyclic maintenance.
- Heavy pavement repairs and annual reseals.
- Emergency response and winter maintenance.
- Vegetation control, drainage, and signage.
- Bridge and retaining wall repairs.
Our integrated delivery model combines planned and reactive works, supported by real-time reporting via our Archimedes® platform and extensive use of RAMM for asset management and claims. We maintain close collaboration with CCC’s contract team, adjusting weekly programmes to meet evolving priorities.
Innovation & Safety.
We’ve pioneered risk-based traffic management and environmental compliance processes tailored to the Peninsula’s sensitive ecosystems. Our crews are equipped with Garmin InReach devices for remote safety, and undergo regular competency assessments and Envirowise training.
Community & Collaboration.
Our long-standing relationships with CCC staff, Community Boards, and local subcontractors—such as Banks Peninsula Transport and Kedzlie Contracting—ensure that around one-third of annual works are delivered by trusted local partners. Together, we’ve built a resilient network that supports both current needs and future challenges like climate change.
