New Airside Hardstand Construction
Auckland Airport, the third busiest in Australasia, has experienced strong growth over the past five years. A continued forecast for growth in 2015 meant it urgently required a new hardstand for international aircraft.
Fulton Hogan partnered with the Engineer and the client to develop a solution so that the team could operate within the strict timeframe and not impact on airport operations.
High standards of quality operations and pavement integrity were met during this airside project. It also required constant review of programme milestones, robust financial control and vigilance to meet the needs of operating in a live airfield. Continual attention to traffic control and monitoring of any foreign object debris were among requirements.
In the course of the work, which occurred around the clock, several construction activities took place within a confined site. A 100 per cent safety and environmental compliance record was achieved. Our open collaborative approach ensured there were no surprises for our client – providing peace of mind and a quality result.
It proved another successful example of Fulton Hogan combining the expertise of experienced managers with a strong local team with technical specialists to meet the needs of the client.
