Fulton Hogan’s Qld Team Wins Major AAPA Award

2014 Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) ‘Queensland Outstanding Project Award’

Fulton Hogan was awarded the 2014 Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) ‘Queensland Outstanding Project Award’ for work carried out on the Warrego Highway, Helidon to Withcott Project. The award was presented by AAPA for excellence in delivery and outstanding quality in construction of a road surfacing or asphalt pavement project in Queensland

Fulton Hogan’s Barry Denny, Construction Manager, Alister Clarke, Surfacing Manager, with Michael Caltabiano, AAPA CEO.

The project involved the full reconstruction and overlay works of all four lanes of the busy Warrego Highway between Helidon and Withcott, west of Brisbane, which was damaged following devastating rain and flood events in 2011.

The judges commended the project, completed in August 2013, as being of the highest standard of construction, well worth inspecting. “Nearly 200,000 tonnes of dense graded asphalt was placed to a very high quality of finish to the road surface, joints and edging under challenging construction conditions of high traffic volumes. Over 100 000 man hours worked with ZERO LTI and environment was fully reinstated after project completion,” read the judges’ comments.
