Asphalt production in Gladstone
Fulton Hogan creates, connects and cares for communities; building the roads, ports, airports, infrastructure and property which brings people together. We build communities literally from the ground up, starting with our own network of quarries, complemented by our asphalt, emulsion and pre-cast plants.
“Red rover, red rover, send Fulton Hogan right over!” Our Gladstone asphalt production and laying team, based in Red Rover Rd, are proud to be part of the Queensland government’s Operation Queenslander, fixing road infrastructure for communities affected by the recent devastating floods and cyclones. Our role in this important project included the reconstruction of sections of the Bruce Highway between Benaraby and Rockhampton.
The Bruce Highway carries more traffic than any other road in Queensland and, for important regional centres like Gladstone, is a vital road link. Fulton Hogan’s asphalt production and laying team use our local knowledge and expertise to repair pot holes and dangerously eroded road surfaces and keep Gladstone’s road infrastructure in the best possible condition.
Gladstone spray seal
Our spray seal technology is particularly valuable for rehabilitating the network of unsealed roads that link nearby rural communities like the Boyne Valley and Calliope. By applying a bituminous binder to the road surface, then adding a layer of aggregate, our Gladstone road crews waterproof these roads, preventing future damage and extending their life.
Gladstone is a very busy place. It is Queensland’s premier industrial city and boasts two of the world’s largest alumina refineries and the state’s largest multi-commodity port. Work is currently underway on a major Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on Curtis Island. Yet just offshore is the Great Barrier Reef, a natural wonder and the key to Gladstone’s tourism industry.
To keep up with the needs of this thriving city, and ensure we care for our beautiful local environment, Fulton Hogan recently upgraded our asphalt plant at a cost of over $6 million. The cutting edge green technologies that we use mean that the environmental impact of our asphalt production processes are as low as possible. At Fulton Hogan we are doing our best to protect the valuable natural assets of the Gladstone region.
