Taranaki road maintenance, asphalt supply, laying & traffic management
Taranaki, on the west coast on New Zealand’s North Island, may be relatively small compared to some of the country’s other regions, but it nevertheless packs a punch. Mount Taranaki is a picture-perfect volcano, which can be climbed or viewed from a helicopter; the area’s beaches provide world class surf breaks; and waterfalls and dams provide adrenaline-fuelled rafting experiences. From an industrial standpoint, the region has onshore and offshore oil and gas deposits, providing most of New Zealand’s gas supply. Taranaki’s roads, therefore, carry large volumes of both tourist traffic and oil and gas tankers, and require ongoing road maintenance. Resurfacing, repairs, drainage maintenance and bridge rehabilitation are all ongoing concerns: Fulton Hogan have 80 years’ experience in providing these services, and have road maintenance facilities in New Plymouth, ensuring the maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads for the New Plymouth District Council – a $4M per annum role, in the region’s north and Hawera in its south.
Developing and maintaining roads with top quality asphalt
Asphalt supply and laying are fundamental to the upkeep and development of the road network. Fulton Hogan is an industry leader, our laboratories designing products that incorporate the latest pavement surfacing technology. Our asphalt supply teams can provide asphalt and bitumen from mobile mix plants, as well as from our regional bases, so our asphalt laying crews can operate around the clock wherever needed to keep the region’s communities on the move in a safe environment.
Keeping Taranaki moving with fast and efficient traffic management
Fulton Hogan offer ongoing support once they have built or repaired the roads, offering comprehensive traffic management services. Whether an unforeseen incident or a planned event, we can manage traffic flow around any disruption to usual conditions. Experienced at working with both government agencies and private businesses, we cover tasks from pavement markers in car parks through to management of traffic going to and leaving major sporting events – the All Blacks recently played France in New Plymouth and Fitzroy Beach hosts surfing world tour events.
