The Fulton Hogan forestry holding comprises some 2900 (net stocked) hectares located in South Otago.
The plantations, which ranges in age from two years to 26 years, are predominantly pinus radiata, with smaller areas is also planted in macrocarpa and douglas fir species.
Initially, planting was established to provide winter employment for our road crews because road contracting activities were concentrated on the summer months.
Now, with the advent of global warming and the company’s commitment to sustainability, this forest estate will provide a valuable buffer to our carbon emissions as we strive to become carbon neutral as a business.
