Today Fulton Hogan is one of the top three piling companies in New Zealand carrying out work in support of our own projects as well as operating independently in the civil and building market.
Fulton Hogan entered the piling business in 2004 when it bought a selection of piling equipment and machines overseas, and recruited experienced managers and staff both locally and internationally. Since then, we have further increased our fleet and staffing and widened our range of piles and work to include ground improvement techniques.
Fulton Hogan decided to enter the piling market as a result of variable performance by subcontractors on projects, and the risk posed to our projects through not having control of the early foundation work. Our in-house capability now allows us to control our projects through all critical stages of construction – providing more certainty for our Clients.
Our current piling capability includes bored piles up to 2.5m diameter and 40m deep, precast and steel driven piles of a range of sizes and types, and sheet piles. In addition, we offer ground improvement techniques in the form of stone and concrete columns plus Dynamic Compaction.
Ground support techniques include post and panel retaining walls, driven timber retaining walls, and bored pile retaining walls with shotcrete. Ground anchoring of these retaining systems is provided by our own specialists.
Some recent piling projects undertaken include:
-
All piling for structures and retaining walls on Northern Gateway Alliance.
-
Piling and retaining walls on SH20 Mt Roskill project.
-
Stone column foundations for Mainfreight terminal in Otahuhu for Dominion Constructors.
-
Bored piles for geothermal power station at Kawarau for Hawkins Construction.
-
Piling for Ormiston Road Cable Stayed bridge, including tension anchor piles.
